Who we help
We work with busy contractors who need coverage that matches their trade and paperwork that matches their contracts.
We primarily support
- Roofing contractors (residential and commercial)
- General contractors (sub-heavy and self-perform)
- Plumbing contractors (service and new construction)
If your operation is adjacent to these trades, we can tell you quickly whether you fit our carrier options and underwriting appetite.
Common reasons contractors come to us
- A GC or owner is requesting a specific endorsement (Additional Insured, Primary and Noncontributory, Waiver of Subrogation)
- A bid packet needs a clean COI with correct wording
- A renewal is coming up and you want options across more than one carrier
- You are growing payroll, adding subs, adding vehicles, or moving into new job types
How we work
We are built around a simple model: trade-focused placement with multi-carrier shopping, plus a compliance workflow that does not stall bids.
1) We start with how you actually operate
We ask questions that impact underwriting and pricing, like:
- Job types (service, new build, commercial, residential)
- Subcontractor use (rough percent and what trades)
- Payroll and revenue ranges
- Claims history
- Vehicles and drivers (owned, hired, non-owned exposure)
- Bid requirements and certificate holder details
2) We shop coverage with multiple carriers
We are an independent broker, which means we can compare options across carriers rather than forcing a one-carrier solution. We focus on matching coverage to your trade realities and contract requirements, not just chasing a number.
3) We help you stay compliant after the policy is in place
Contractors rarely lose jobs because they do not have insurance. They lose jobs because paperwork is wrong or incomplete. We support common certificate and endorsement needs and help you request them the right way so you do not waste days in revision cycles. See our compliance guides for the details.
Compliance first: COIs and endorsements without the runaround
Many requirements live in endorsements, not on the certificate itself. We help you separate what is proof versus what is actually granted by the policy. Here is what we mean by compliance help:
- Certificate of Insurance (COI): a summary document that shows active coverage. A COI alone does not always create coverage changes. Learn more
- Additional Insured (AI): typically requires an endorsement, and the wording matters. Learn more
- Primary and Noncontributory (PNC): often requested so the other party's insurance does not respond first. Learn more
- Waiver of Subrogation (WOS): often requested to reduce back-and-forth after a loss, usually by endorsement. Learn more
If you are bidding a job: share the requirement language early. Small differences in wording can change what a carrier will approve and how fast it can be issued.
Coverage types we commonly place for contractors
Most contractors start with a core stack, then add coverage based on vehicles, tools, project requirements, and contract language. Common contractor policies we place include:
- General Liability (GL)
- Workers' Compensation (WC), including ghost where applicable and appropriate, with clear disclosures
- Commercial Auto
- Contractor Bonds
- Tools and Equipment (Inland Marine)
- Umbrella and Excess
- Builder's Risk
- Professional Liability (E&O)
Requirements vary by contract, project, and carrier. We will confirm what is required before you bind coverage.
Where we serve
We serve contractors across California and Texas and surrounding areas. Current focus markets:
- California (major metros and surrounding areas): Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Sacramento, Fresno, Riverside, Anaheim
- Texas (major metros and surrounding areas): Dallas to Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, El Paso, Corpus Christi, McAllen, Lubbock
See service areas: California and Texas.
What you can expect when you work with us
Speed with accuracy
We move quickly when we have complete info. Missing details usually cause delays, especially for endorsements.
Direct communication
If a requirement is not feasible as written, we will tell you and suggest what to verify with the GC or owner.
No guarantees
We do not promise approval or lowest price. Underwriting is carrier driven and based on your operation and loss history.
Support beyond binding
We can help with policy documents, COIs, and basic claims intake and routing when something happens.
What contractors say about us
Donald Hilson, Owner, Ultimate Roofing
I had a crew sitting in a truck in Dallas just waiting on a certificate to get onto a job site. I called these guys and they didn't mess around. I had the paperwork in my inbox before my coffee even got cold. If you are a roofer and need someone who actually moves as fast as you do, this is the place to go.
Josh Salter, Owner, Star Contracting
Starting out on my own was confusing enough without trying to figure out the workers comp side of things. I was not sure if I needed a ghost policy or what the requirements were for my trade in California. They walked me through the pros and cons and got me compliant so I could finally bid on bigger jobs.
George Harden, Owner, Super Construction
I had been with the same carrier for five years and my rates just kept creeping up every single renewal. I gave Contractors Insured a shot and they actually shopped around for me. I ended up with better coverage for my general liability and my trucks for less than I was paying before. No gimmicks or sales talk, just straight answers.
David Keeling, Owner, SD Plumbing and Landscaping
Getting insurance sorted for big commercial plumbing jobs used to be a headache because of the specific wording GCs demand. These guys handled the Additional Insured and Waiver of Subrogation stuff without me having to explain it three times. It is a real relief to finally work with a broker who actually knows how these contracts work.
About Pascal Burke
Pascal Henry Burke III transitioned from a 1970s architect's apprentice to owning a concrete company in Los Angeles. Frustrated by insurance agents who did not understand the job site, he founded ContractorsInsured in 2017 to bridge that gap.
As a specialized risk consultant rather than a typical salesman, Pascal leverages his ground up construction experience to advocate for his peers. Because he is a fiercely independent broker, he is not tied to any single carrier. Instead, he shops the market to find the best value for each client.
Pascal Burke is a Licensed Insurance Broker, CA License #6015321, TX License #3305690. He is a broker, not an agent, which means he represents you rather than a single carrier.
