Request a Certificate of Insurance (COI)

This page is the fast lane for existing clients who need a Certificate of Insurance (COI) for a job, vendor packet, or compliance request. Submit the certificate holder details, job information, required limits, and any endorsement requests so we can issue the COI with fewer revisions. New to us? Use the Get a Quote page so we can start underwriting and place coverage first.

Existing clients: use this form

If you already have an active policy through us, this form is the quickest way to get your COI routed and processed.

Use this COI request when you need:

  • A COI for a GC, owner, property manager, or vendor onboarding packet
  • The COI emailed to multiple recipients
  • Common endorsements referenced on the certificate (when applicable and approved by the carrier)

New to us? Use Get a Quote first

A COI is proof of coverage. If you are not an existing client, we need to quote and bind coverage before we can issue a COI.

These are the fields that prevent delays and reduce COI revisions.

Turnaround expectations

Speed depends on completeness and carrier rules, especially for endorsements.

  • COIs are fastest when the certificate holder name/address, job address, limits, and send-to emails are complete.
  • Endorsements (AI, PNC, WOS) may require carrier review and approval. Some requests can take longer based on the wording and your policy form.
  • If you have a hard deadline, include it in the form so we can prioritize routing.

Quick definitions (so you request the right thing)

Many contractors lose time because the COI is asked for, but an endorsement is what is actually required.

  • COI (Certificate of Insurance): Proof of active coverage and limits. It does not automatically change your policy.

  • Additional Insured (AI): Typically granted by endorsement when required.
  • Primary and Noncontributory (PNC): Often required so the other party’s coverage does not respond first.
  • Waiver of Subrogation (WOS): Often required to reduce recovery actions against certain parties.

Common mistakes that delay COIs

Fix these before you submit and you usually avoid extra rounds.

  • Missing certificate holder address
  • Job address omitted or incorrect
  • Limits requested are not stated (or the packet requires specific limits)
  • Endorsement requested in email but not selected on the form
  • Recipient email list incomplete
  • Requirements uploaded as screenshots that cut off the key wording

FAQs

Direct answers to common COI questions.

Is this form only for existing clients?
Yes. If you are new to us, start with Get a Quote so we can place coverage first.

Can you issue a COI the same day?
Often, yes, when we have complete details. Endorsements can add time depending on carrier rules and wording.

Is a COI the same as an Additional Insured endorsement?
No. A COI is proof of coverage. Additional Insured is typically granted by endorsement.

What information makes COIs fastest?
Certificate holder name/address, job name/address, required limits, endorsement requests (AI/PNC/WOS), and all send-to emails.

What if the GC requires specific wording?
Upload the requirement page or paste the exact wording into the form. Small wording changes can affect what a carrier will approve.
